Thanks, Fred.

I'm getting much more info on this list than the one I "should" be on <smile>.
Nothing forthcoming from the "cell" list.

Hmmmmmmm!

Are we talking "wireless"? Why would it be slower in the boonies unless they have
"wired/dsl" in town and "wireless" in the country?

Many thanks!

Actually, Terry, I found that the provider is Millinicom, who apparently uses the
Sprint infrastructure........or whatever their agreement. I called them a couple of days
ago and they do, in fact, have an unlimited package for $69.99 per month.

I did join the CELL group, but getting more info here than there <smile>.

Thanks, Grizz.

You probably got it before they went from unlimited to 5 G. I'm still gonna see if
they can't help me out because I have been with them quitea number of years.

Re: : [IBWiFi] Sprint

I have no idea how the carriers equip new towers. If you want to
see the "fast" vs. "slow" areas for Verizon, look at:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/CoverageLocatorController

Select "Broadband & V CAST", then refresh the map, to see the
high speed areas. Select "Enhanced Services", then refresh the
map again, to see the areas that will have AT LEAST the slow
speed coverage. AT&T and Sprint have similar maps.

I have no idea what you mean by "Wireless connection, but not
through a cellular phone, a wireless card or modem."

Thanks for resetting the date on your computer.

Since this discussion has nothing to do with Wi-Fi, I will
refrain from further comments on it here.

Hi Jim,
Millenicom is just a "re-seller", not a
"carrier". For more info about Millenicom
there is a DSL Reports Forum you may be
interested in at:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cover,3165 .
Lots of other info also available with a
Google search.

Hi Jim,
I suspect Anne really has Verizon
DSL cable or FiOS Fiber Optic at

Each cellular provider has different types of service areas, some faster than others. The more rural areas tend to be in the "slow" (old technology) category.

In all cases, we are talking now about cellular connections. Not Wi-Fi. Not DSL. Not cable.

BTW, would you reset the date on your computer? All your messages are ending up in my spam filter because they have dates eight days in the future.

Thanks.

Jim

I'm also reading that some folks are signing up for a Data Plan with
Alltel, which at present is unlimited.

Alltel has been bought out by Verizon, and the hope is that the unlimited
will be grandfathered in.

Re: [IBWiFi] Re: Sprint

I live full time in an RV and use Mobil broadband, Home service and mobile service are different. You may connect your home service to your wifi net, the fine print in the mobile service contract prohibits using mobile on any network including wifi. I have two smart phones with Internet and I had a data card  for over six years when AT&T put the 5G limit. I called and they allowed me to terminate the contract without penalty but would not lift the limit. The rep told me the reason for the limits was people using Mobil broadband on LANs and overloading the cell network. I told him their own marketing was responsible by encouraging high usage. He agreed that was in fact the problem but I was out of luck as far as the 6G limit.

(MODERATOR: I tried two times to send this from the web, but apparently it
didn't
post. If it did, please delete any duplicates)

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the group today after finding out about it from an RV list on
which I
participate.

We travel a lot and use Verizon for our cell phones because of the great
coverage. On
the road we have been using VZ Broadband by "tethering" our cell phone.

At home we have Hughesnet Satellite for our internet connection and I have
hated it
for five years! So we are considering going VZ all the way, but I don't like
their
5g/mo limit.

Someone mentioned that Sprint has the same type of program where for $69 per

month one can get "unlimited" access and by purchasing a router a number of
computers can be connected.

Question: Anyone have Sprint in that form? Any information will be
appreciated.

Regards,

Jim
