Thanks Ken,

I was using automatic channel selection, also noticed I had low power selected and my
firmware was out of date. Thanks for the motivation to fix things. I've since updated my
firmware, and set channel one to see how it works, and set the power to high; may download the sugested software at some point but not today.

Hi Michelle,
For 802.11b/g WIFI, the only three 'non-interferring' channels are 1, 6, and 11. Generally, if you pick one of the *other* available channels, you'll get worse performance (i.e.; channel 3 will probably end up getting interference from both channels 1 AND 6). If you have a PC (with a compatible wireless card/adapter), use something like insidder ( http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider ) to see what channels are in use, signal strength, etc to maximize performance / minimize interference.

There are several wifi's in our area that I can see on my computer.
What is stopping them from interfering with each other? Aren't they
all on the same frequency?
