Re: [IBWiFi] a question about multiple wifi's

Hi Michelle,

For 802.11b/g WIFI , the only three 'non-interferring' channels are 1, 6, and 11. Generally, if you pick one of the *other* available channels, you'll get worse performance (i.e.; channel 3 will probably end up getting interference from both channels 1 AND 6). If you have a PC (with a compatible wireless card/adapter), use something like insidder ( http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider ) to see what channels are in use, signal strength, etc to maximize performance / minimize interference.

hth,

Ken

Subject: [IBWiFi] a question about multiple wifi's

There are several wifi's in our area that I can see on my computer.
What is stopping them from interfering with each other? Aren't they
all on the same frequency?
Thanks in advance,
Michelle Ress, Felton, CA
