[IBWiFi] WI-FI Access at RV parks and Campgrounds using AT&T servers

my current ISP is earthlink and over the years i've had zero problems
accessing my e-mail on RV parks and campgounds wi-fi systems using my
outlook client software. earthlink provides an authorized, alternative SMTP
server and port (587) for sending mail and uses the standard port 110 for
receiving mail.

i'm considering a switch to AT&T as my ISP here at home primarily because of
price (a $50 per month saving over earthlink). i spoke with an AT&T tech
yesterday who gave me the info i need in order to access e-mail using
outlook. AT&T uses secure socket layering (SSL) to both send (port 465 for
SMTP, 995 for POP). the tech advised me that not all public wifi hotspots
will pass SSL data on their systems.

my question is for those of you who have AT&T as your ISP and use microsoft
outlook on the road to retrieve your e-mail. do you have any problems
retrieving or sending e-mail on public wifi hotspots? i'm not referring to
the AT&T nodes and wifi hotspots...i know it will work on those. i'm
wondering about the 'foreign' nodes, the non AT&T hot spots. before i make
the switch i'd like to hear from those of you who have that service now.

thanks
