[IBWiFi] Re: ALFA - AWUS036H problem - help !

Hi Peter,
I am wondering if this adapter is drawing to much power on the USB port on the laptop for it to stay powered on.

If you go to the Device Manager on the netbook and laptop and look at the USB ports POWER tab it will tell you how much milliamp each port will sustain and how much milliamp each device is pulling from the port. There are some computers that have USB ports that are not capable of suppling very much power to the attached devices, they are designed for USB mice and keyboards. On my Dell 6000 all of the USB ports will supply up to 500 mAmps of power.

Since the adapter works on the netbook, I would have the adapter as the only device attached to an USB port and check the amount of mA that it is pulling and then check the laptop USB ports to see if they will sustain that amount of amperage. Also have the laptop plugged into AC to check if it is a power management issue while running on battery.
