A lot of built in laptops wireless card are only good on a good day for 75 feet. You may have a wireless card not strong enough to pick up the signal.Since you have this problem often. After that they can get online.
Or the router is not giving a gateway signal. You can have a signal from the router but if it isn't online itself then no gateway address.
