There are many choices for WiFi antennas. You can Google "WiFi Antennas"
(without the quotes) and find a lot of hits.
Here's a link to a "Stick" type antenna designed for RVs that several users
have installed and reported good performance:

Here's another link to a flat panel type antenna that has gotten good
results:

The "stick" type antenna can be left up all the time on the RV, whereas the
flat panel would have to be erected at each stopping point.
Then there are dozens or even hundreds of "cantennas" that folks have
conjured up. Some of these have demonstrated ranges of a mile or two. Google
"cantenna".
I am full time in my RV. I use a Verizon USB Modem plugged into a
Cradlepoint CTR350 compact router which sets up a hotspot inside my RV. This
works out well for me. I have the stick modem/router mounted high to the
ceiling of one of the cabinets above the dashboard and it does a good job there.
I usually stick to campgrounds and do not do a lot of boondocking. The
further out into the boondocks you get, the more important becomes the WiFi
antenna.
I had plans to put one of the Radiolabs antennas on my rig, but after just
completing an 8000 mile cross country trip, I'm not sure I need it for my
useage.

Dave and everyone,
I am looking for a good external antenna system that I can plug into my
laptop (USB or with a new card in the NIC Port) or to a new desktop that I
will be purchasing in the near future.
As to the mounting - it would be attached to the outside of the coach
while parked and than taken down when I am on the road.. Like a Yagi on a
mast or I could mount something on the TV antenna also.
I have used and still have a Linksys WIFI router that I used in the past
with my Hughes system.. Also flashed the memory for more power... I did not
say that...
I am looking for a antenna system to receive open WIFI systems... I hope
this clarifies things.
