RE: [IBWiFi] WIFI System

Hi Rich,

I have run the whole gantlet of equipment and am returning to the basics that I started out with some years past... before the Sat dishes, cell phone tethering etc became a big thing.. OH, I tether with Verizon 8 years ago as I write...  (speed ? ? serial port - finally went USB with a Ver. tech's help.)  When you loose the cell phone route and have no land line or WIFI close, you go to the Sat system...   = = All have served me well ! ! ! !

Here is the plan - - I am on the bubble to work in downtown Norfolk, VA, (waiting in Iowa) for the next 4 to 6 months.  I will be giving a friend my Verizon Boadband modem as she is dropping here land line as well as AOL.....   While I work, maybe, she will be in The Rio Grande Valley dancing.  What a deal ! ! ! !

I have in the past also run a Hot Spot off of my Sat network with a 12 db gain antenna... may try and hook that up to the ALFA unit later.

Thanks for the comments,   And yes, I am a full time RVer, until someone convinces / gives me reason to do other wise.

wow. 1/5 of a mile is a long way. you should consider mounting a wifi antenna on top of your RV (assuming that's what you travel in). as with any radio system the higher, the better.

I'd be interested in your experiences at distances of 1000'+ as that is what I have to contend with when traveling.
