In the month of August I had two Verizon plans, one a 5GB and one unlimited. During that time period I had numerous contacts with various Verizon people and at no time did anyone try to trick me into doing anything. They were all top notch professional representatives.
I had my five gig plan for a year before I found someone who wanted to unload their unlimited. You just have to have patience and be ready to jump when you find that person.
I've since dropped the 5 gig plan and am very satisfied with Verizon as I was before.
They are simply the best.. I don't think the customer service people are on a commission
and even if they were screwing customers isn't going to win friends and influence people favorably.
That's just paranoia. In the whole year I've never gone over 5 GB anyway and only came close a couple of times.

He might be getting at how they will actually "trick" you into changing
a grandfathered plan if it is for "their" benefit, and "not" explaining
why it might be to your benefit to not change it!
Or maybe not..................
