Hi Fred,
First the person giving up the plan calls Verizon and tells them they are giving their plan
to you. Then you call Verizon and tell them you are assuming the liability for the account. You need to have the phone number of the account you're taking over.
They check your credit history and that's it. This is one of Verizon's numbers:
800-922-0204
I've done it twice and both times it was very easy. The person giving up the line then sends you their modem and you're all set. Both of my assumption of liabiliites were found on this list.

you do? How do you get it transferred into your name?
