Larry,
I'm not sure what you expected them to tell you, or what difference it would have made if they did. For a year or so the standard Broadband Data plan was truly unlimited, in both time and data volume. Then they announced a change that put the 5 GB volume limit in place. That was late in 2006, if I remember correctly. If you already had a Broadband Data Plan, you kept what you had (grandfathered in). New subscribers got the new plan, i.e. the 5 GB limit. If you did not already have a Data Plan that qualified for grandfathering, what would be the point of telling someone that there used to be a different plan?
Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are getting at?

I have been a Verizon customer for a long time and I was never told about it by customer service. No surprise. Thanks to everyone for their responses.
